Genesis 6w - LNER Camping Coaches Green/Cream - Twin Pack JIn late 1932, a suggestion was made to the LNER Board that some of the pre Grouping six wheeled coaches inherited by the company could be made suitable for camping by placing them at attractive station locations and hiring them out at a reasonable rate. In late 1932, a suggestion was made to the LNER Board that some of the pre-Grouping six-wheeled coaches inherited by the company could be made suitable for camping by placing them at attractive station locations and hiring them out at a reasonable rate. This proposal was sanctioned on June 1, 1933, and the experiment began with the conversion of ten former Great Northern five-compartment six-wheeled coaches. By July 1, 1933, these had been positioned at ten branch line locations in the North-East.

The conversion involved gutting three compartments to create a kitchen and living area, while the remaining two were converted into bedrooms. Access between the various “rooms” was via the external running board. Toilet facilities do not appear to have been provided, so it was assumed that station facilities were to be used, although the sidings were not always in close proximity to them.

The first season was a complete sell-out, with 129 bookings taken at a rental of £2 10s per coach per week, on the condition that parties travelled by rail to their chosen destination. For the 1934 season, a further 25 coaches were converted, with additional locations in the South and Scotland added to the scheme, and by 1938 a total of 118 coaches were in use across these regions.

For the 1935 season, the original teak appearance was considered too drab, and the camping coaches were repainted into the Tourist Train Set livery of green and cream. The word “Camping” was removed from the coach sides and replaced by a CC prefix to the coach number. That same year also saw the introduction of an additional holiday offering in the North Eastern area: the Touring Camping Coach. Unlike the static branch line locations, this coach was moved—with its holiday party on board—from site to site on a pre-arranged schedule, being attached to ordinary train services between destinations. This touring service was available for between £2 2s and £2 10s per person, for a minimum booking of six people.

Easy, lots of power, incredibly handy!
Color: Red
Bought one of these for each of my teenagers. They’re very easy to use and have came in clutch many times! One charge jumped two cars, a truck, a lawn mower twice, and it’s still going. I often grab it out of their vehicle to use on the farm. These are great for cars, trucks, side by sides, four wheelers, and lawn mowers. I definitely recommend this for anyone! I wrote this review sitting stranded with a flat tire on my side by side in a Cow field, waiting for my son to bring me his compressor.

So good we bought another
Color: Red
We spend a lot of time in Baja California, and rough, unpaved roads result in lots of tire punctures. Having a decent air compressor is therefore "necessary equipment". This unit inflates tires reasonably quickly, automatically displays the pressure in the tire before you set the desired inflation pressure, and shuts off automatically when the desired pressure is reached. The display is easy to read. The short, detachable hose is easily attached and removed, and stores in the bag with the pump. The hose length works for most common automobile tires, and will work for oversize tires by rotating the wheel to bring the valve stem closer to the ground. Attachment to the valve stem is easily accomplished with its lever-lock working end. The unit can additionally function as a battery booster for starting a vehicle with a low battery. Installation of the cable for that purpose is easily done, and it worked just fine when we had to use it on one of our two vehicles one morning, allowing the car to be started quickly and easily. Charging is accomplished with a standard USB charging cable (USB-A style at one end, and USB-C style connector at the other end). We had a puncture that required the pump to be used multiple times to get the 12 miles back to a tire repair shop. We could charge the pump up easily and quite quickly via the vehicle's USB port, stopping every few miles to pump the tire back up enough to keep going on the highway without having to go through the trouble of unloading the trunk to change the tire for the "doughnut" spare at the side of the road. Having those two experiences just shortly after we received the pump was more than enough proof that we should have another for our other car. I'd recommend it for its small, easily stowable size, good battery capacity and ease of use.

It works and I’m happy!
Color: Red
This item is terrific! A bit noisy but it’s compact and works like a charm. Inflates my tire quickly. I have not used it to jump start my car, but I’m convinced it would work just fine. Great price too!

Good thing to keep in your trunk
Color: Red
This has been a pretty helpful thing to have in the car. My tires have been losing pressure recently and this helps keep them topped off while I wait to change my tires. It's easy to use and the value for the price is great. The main issue is that it seems to need a full charge in order to jump a car because I had issues using it to jump my car when half charge, but no issues at full. Also the cable lengths are a bit short.

Worked like a charm to jump start my Mazda
Color: Red
My Mazda CX-30 wouldn't start one day. I knew these rechargeable jump starters were a thing so I jumped on Amazon and got this one same day. Worked like a charm! Inside the main unit is basically a giant power bank. It charges with a USB-C in, which is awesome and universally available. It even has a USB-A out port to charge another device. I charged it up to full when I first got it, even though it already had some juice in it and I *think* you'd be able to get an emergency jump right out of the box if you needed to. The directions are simple. Plug the battery clamps into the box, then clamp them onto your battery. A green light tells you that it's ready to go. Press the BOOST button, then go into your car and start it up with in 30 seconds. Then remove the clamps and away you go. No sparks, no scary sounds, no worries. I jumped it twice and it still had enough charge for possibly a few more. Other great emergency features: the tire inflator has programmable pressure. The light is nice and bright and stays steady for a flashlight or blinks for emergency. And I already mentioned the USB out for charging another device. This is a great, indispensable emergency device for anyone's car. I'm glad I got it and I'll make sure it stays charged in my glove box.
