Zoey is a young girl with a special gift...she can talk to the forest animals. But as she grows older, she finds that she can no longer hear her beloved Forest Friends anymore. It seems she's lost her childhood spirit.


Now Zoey is leaving for university and her parents are selling the only home she's ever known. She may never see her best friends again. Who would take care of Matilda, the deer with the broken leg? There was only one child who would love and care for them as she did: her cousin Rorey. But after she leaves for university, she discovers that something terrible is happening back home.


Together with Matilda, Mittens, and the other Forest Friends, Zoey must slay her childhood fears to save Rorey from the forest's evil witch, Esmerelda, and her terrifying pet wolf, Damen. I felt like there was so much happening but also not enough. As for the story itself I enjoyed it, it was different than other OV I’ve read. Bring the tissues, you will need them. They guys were great, I wish we saw more of Kai and Kenjis relationship. As for Nate…… IYKYK. I enjoyed this book, my first from this author and look forward to reading about Kamaris story. However there were just one too many convoluted plot points, sentences just did not flow nicely at times, and I was left with a lot of confusion on my end. I think it has the bones of being a great story but seems like it was rushed and I had to push myself to finish the last of the book and was left with an unsatisfying ending. It’s definitely different from other omegaverse novels I’ve read but not for good reasons. I really think it could be great but needs some serious tweaking and editing before I’d read it again.

I cried my eyes out when he walked into the story. I was truly terrified he was going to be a bad guy to the end. However you truly did him such a justice by having him realize his faults & having him redeem himself in the most wonderful way. I’m so sad that he didn’t get to hear how much his brother loved him & forgave him before dying. But again you wrote that ending so beautifully & I just can’t express how much I loved this story & how you took a different route than most authors I have read have. You are a remarkable author Cinder Blaze & I thank you generously for creating such a masterpiece.

And we had some fun plot twists that I didn't expect. I wish we had more of a follow up on the situation with her family her background and her mother who was a wench.
